A drive down Balmoral Street in Thunder Bay towards Lakehead University will always feature the large Dominion Motors GM dealership. This attractive building was built in 1988 and recently has undergone some important renovations. “ There were 2 reasons for our renovations. GM has a image program right across Canada. We had to do the GM imaging
program including signage and a new band around the top of the building. There were also some interior changes done making it more convenient for our customers in our waiting lounge. We also improved the parts counter and did some new parts display,” said John Dolcetti, President of Dominion Motors. “ Our customer have been asking us for a quick lube. In the past we had an appointment system but today people seem to want the quick lube where you just drive up and get the work done. We will have a double bay quick lube in the near future.”
“ I thought the renovation went very well. I am pleased that Tom Jones Corporation was the successful bidder. They are well organized and their people were excellent to deal with. They went out of there way to make the renovation work while we were still open. They worked evenings and some Saturdays. They were exceptional.” said John Dolcetti. “The car industry is a challenge with the world economy and what is happening in the US. I would say once GM gets reorganized to a downsized position because they are not getting the market share they
want it, will be good. I know we have great product because our warranty costs are going down each year. Last year we had a banner year so the products are good,” said John Dolcetti. “Consumers may be a little leery of where GM will be but we all know GM is not going to go
away. They are going to be here as a smaller company. We can hold our heads high with the quality of the product today. There are lots of hybrid’s coming including the 2009 GM hybrid truck.”

“ I do, I really do have confidence in the NW Ontario economy. It is a little soft right now because of the pulp and paper industry but once Obama gets his strategies in place things will start to go on. Our economy is stronger than the US. We have a better economy and better banking system. We should recover before the US.” said John Dolcetti.

“ They had an national imaging program from GM and required building improvements. We added a new drive lube centre and some exterior changes with new entrances and a facade upgrade.” said John Jones.
