Spring in Thunder Bay!

Spring in Thunder Bay!

by Scott A. Sumner

It seems like we have reached spring in Thunder Bay!

spring-2026

The grass is starting to green up. The sun is out, and we are ready to experience a beautiful summer time change of seasons.

The winter this year was long. There was lots of snow and it seems that the water tables are high now. I can see by looking at the Kam River that water is up and I also know that at home I can hear my sump pump running regularly. This high water table could be good for helping with the fire season in Thunder Bay area.

Driving around the City of Thunder Bay you see there's lots happening. This is the start of the construction season and many big projects are underway. Lots of paving projects are beginning. This is our window of opportunity in NW Ontario to improve things around the area so yes, there's lots happening.

In our planet Earth conflicts remain ongoing, there is high inflation and basically a somewhat uncertain economy. However things seem to be pretty economically stable in Thunder Bay. It could be because we have such a large percentage of our population in government type related jobs as well as private sector jobs servicing the community. For example, the healthcare system, the education fields, and retail/service as we are a hub for Northwestern Ontario.

Let's hope for a good summer ahead! and improving world conditions!
