On February 14th the first and second year hospitality students hosted a special evening of Spanish Food as a fundraiser for their second year placements in Spain.  “ We have dinner and dancing coming up February 14th as a fund raising event for the second year placement in Spain. We  learn so many techniques in the program and I hope to work in Thunder Bay when I
graduate.” said Maritza Carrasco  from Panama  and now a resident of Canada taking the 1st year culinary management Confederation College.

The placements are 2 weeks. “ Culinary Management is an amazing program. It took me a while to decide what I wanted to do  and I love it even more than I thought I  would. The days just fly by. I can’t wait to work and hope to work in the city,” said Trazey Warkentin 1st year Culinary Management. “ Many people think we are stirring a soup, but we talk about nutrition, different ways of eating, so many things.”
“ We are trying to do something different with the students each year. This year we choose our Spanish theme. In Spain they love seafood and sample different hor de ourves. Once you finish you go to the main course Payaa, originally eels and snails modern with chicken sausage lobster shrimp with rice. Spanish wine and orange almond cake from Seville. It will take three days to prepare. If the love is dead in your relationship this will be a great event,” said  Chef Tim  Matthews. “  The students are going to Spain. We have reviewed the international placement after the circumstances in the Philippines with Alicia and will not have placement in the Philippines. We will spend three days in Madrid and the rest Seville.”
