Thunder Bay Business
The impressive new offfice of Wellington West and local broker Terry yck and staff was opened with fanfare recently. The 2500 square foot ocation in the historical Thunder Bay Hydro building offers a great iew of the Sleeping Giant, one of Canada's wonders.

John Rothwell,  President of Wellington West Capital Inc.,was on hand rom Toronto to help with the festivities. Wellington West Capital Inc. s a full service brokerage unit of the holding company of Wellington est Capital. It has 35 locations across the country and $ 9 Billion
dollars under administration which represents 93% of their assets and 3% of profits.
We are across the country in every province except Newfoundland with 20 brokerage teams and 525 employees, smiled  the 52 year old othwell. We are thrilled to be here. Thunder Bay is our kind of own. Wellington started in Winnipeg and we have done extremely well cross the country in communities of 500,000 people or less. When we nter a market we like to differentiate ourselves and are in a heritage uilding where the city wanted to develop the core. They have down a errific job in helping us and we hope to quintuple or more here.    We give a lot of autonomy to the local broker and we are here to elp him serve his clients. We turn the triangle upside to serve the lient and have won awards as best managed company and top brokerage perations for several years. The awards are testimony to  the point we re serving clients first, noted Rothwell.   I am cautious about icking sectors that will do well but the smart conservative, prudent, iew is always the best mantra to go by. There are always opportunities
and the biggest risk is not being involved. We are really portfolio uilders and longer term planners as well. The best client is the ffluent client that has taxation needs and we provide advice on how to uild a strong portfolio looking for after tax work done. The day of herry picking stocks is long gone. The client is much more ofisticated now and demanding more from companies like ours.  Smart, right, entrepreneurial firms come out of large firms. Wellington is owned by their employees 97%. The company hopes to go ublic in 2 years. It is sort of a doubled edged sword because it auses you to act in a state of preparedness, although we are enjoying hat process,  but the company  is cautiously optimistic according to John  Rothwell.
