The Vancouver Whistler 2010 Winter Olympics are fast approaching and everything seems to be progressing very well according to Breton Murphy, Senior Manager for Destination Media Relations for Tourism Whistler. “ We have three competition venue  and three non competition
venue. All of our competition venue were completed 2 years in advance for the 2010 Games. First we have the Whistler and Para Olympic Park where the biathlon, cross country and ski jump will take place. All three of those stadia are in one site 13Km from village in Callahan
Valley which has great snow fall each year. There is the Whistler Creekside alpine venue. In the main village you will be looking up to the base of Blackcomb, the Whistler sliding Centre where the bob sled events will be held,” said Breton Murphy.

As part of the live sites program at Whistler they will be activating performance areas with large screens showcasing Whistler and Vancouver so they everyone will be engaged. There are 6  sites and celebration plaza which will have medal ceremonies and large scale
performance artists  both international  and national. You will not need tickets to attend the live sites.
“  As we say Whistler was born for the games as we have required no major developments here in preparation for the games except for the competition sites. We needed no new homes or infrastructure to have the capacity to host the games, “ stated Murphy. “  Over 95% or 200 of the ski hill runs will be open to the public as  well as the activation through the live sites. The Para Olympic program will be held March 12 to 28th.  The tickets then will have greater affordability as will accommodation. We have a capacity of 10,000 bedrooms in the resort of
which 3000 have been secured for the Vancouver Organizing Committee for their sponsors etc. That leaves a significant amount  left. To date 30% of our typical inventory is not booked.”
