While a lot of people are contributing to advancements in technology and economic development, Shannon Campbell is contributing to the growth of Thunder Bay, in another way, literally. Shannon Campbell, owner and operator of TYCON CONSTRUCTION INC. has
many construction projects to his credit in our city and regional area, pronouncing the accomplishments of his years in his chosen field of expertise. Shannon grew up around heavy construction equipment all his life and as a result, this chosen career was built right into the fiber of his ‘being’! Shannon’s father, Jim Campbell, (passed September, 2008), had introduced Shannon to this industry at a very young age through the trucking industry for which he owned a few heavy haulers. Then he (Jim) taught at Confederation College, having the equipment course for years. Through the years, Shannon earned (learned) the hard
way to a good days pay! Shannon spent 15 winters in isolated and harsh conditions, working in the logging industry as a Loader Operator.
Shannon remembers both his parents being hard workers and with his mother coming from a family of eleven brothers and sisters, Shannon learned early in life that everyone had a part to do and to step up and pull your weight. These values have developed into a will for entrepreneurship, although Shannon would not have called it that at the time. Never the less, with ‘hands on’ experience and under the guise of his mentors and traditional education, Shannon had literally worked his way to the top, the top of what is now his own company, ‘TYCON CONSTRUCTION INC.’.
Shannon grew up on Sturgeon Bay Road, just off Highway 61 South and resides on Cloud Lake Road. He is known by many throughout the region. With two sons of his own and a family business, Shannon finds his life to be busy and complete, or completely busy! Recently incorporated (2007), Shannon, with over 20 years of personal experience himself, offers general contracting and construction services in a big way. Shannon prides his company’s reputation on first-rate quality workmanship in a timely manner and stands behind his quality with his personal guarantee.
