Don Campbell, President &  CEO of TBaytel helped launch the United Way campaign of TBaytel recently with a luncheon event at their Lithium Service Centre.“ It is a very, very important campaign  for us, for the community and the citizens of Thunder Bay. Our goal is to raise $48,000.  Last year we achieved $44,000. I know with our employees support we will meet or exceed that amount,” stated Campbell of Tbaytel which has 400 employees in Thunder Bay and the region. “A number of the employees contribute through payroll deduction and for instance with today’s event the food was donated and we will have a reasonable meal cost. The proceeds will go to United Way. A number of our employees are really dedicated to
this campaign.”

Verna Brannan is an Account Development Representative in Business Communications Solutions area of TBaytel and Employee Campaign Chair  at TBaytel for the United Way. “ Today we are kicking off our campaign and trying to get everyone in the mood to give money to the United Way. Each employee gives over $100 on average. We will have special events
like Bingos, Bake sales and silent auctions. A majority of the money is   raised through payroll deductions. We have had auctions for furniture and a couple of barbecues already this year,” said Verna Brannan. “ I am involved in the program because I see the need in the community.
There are a lot of people who struggle and I know that I am fortunate to have the job I have. There are not a lot of people who are as fortunate as I am and I feel that I can help out in some way.”   “The United Way is a very worthy cause,” said Verna Brannan, Chair of the TBayTel employees fundraising campaign. “We are excited to launch this campaign, and to do our part to help the community.” “We count on the United Way in Thunder Bay,” added Adam Tallon, Co-Chair of the TBayTel employees fundraising campaign, “and we know they are dedicated
to bettering the communities that we live in by providing initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of people.”
TBayTel’s goal last year in 2007 was $33,000, and the hard working staff at TBayTel surpassed that goal and raised over $44,000 for the United Way of Thunder Bay. “We have a fantastic group of employees,” stated Don Campbell, President & CEO of TBayTel. “They value family, love Thunder Bay, and work hard to make sure the city is the best place it can be, both through their responsibilities at TBayTel and their activities outside of the workplace.” Mr. Campbell said last year’s fundraising result is indicative of TBayTel employees’ generosity and involvement with the community. “Being privileged enough to work alongside and knowing TBayTel’s employees, the overwhelming success of last year’s United Way fundraising campaign certainly came as no surprise to me. I fully expect TBayTel employees will ensure we exceed this year’s campaign goal as well.” said Campbell. The TBayTel Employees United Way Campaign encourages their employees to give through payroll deduction, organized events throughout the year, and encouraging participation in fundraising efforts by volunteering their time.
