As one of his last times as a MP recently announced retiring Joe Comuzzi held a news conference at the Innovation Centre on Balmoral Street  to announce a significant Fednor funding in broadband. The 20 year, 75year old veteran politician showed his love of Northwestern Ontario in his comments before later in the week announcing his retirement.

“ It is an ongoing undertaking that we have been working on for the last 10 years. Nobody in Longlac knew what was happening in Geraldton or Beardmore. We started the communication  process up with radio and television. You could sense that people were getting along so much better. In Fednor we are bringing the communities together. We trained
33 nurses in Dryden and they didn’t have to leave their homes,” said Joe Comuzzi. “ Today is another need being filled by Fednor. Fednor is a critical part of Northern Ontario. We lead North America in some of this important work. We have saved on transportation costs and are
really making good progress.  Broadband for long distance, healthcare and even monitoring water problems has worked. The reason I am on my way to Ottawa is to work on a very important project. In  our world  2/3 of the people go to sleep with out enough food. We can store more food in Thunder Bay with our grain elevators than any other place in the North America. We can get that food anywhere in the world in 10 days. I’d like to see what Northwestern Ontario looks like in 10 years.”
