Saint Saint Patrick high school officially opened its new track and field facilities recently with a school-wide celebration.  The project, valued at approximately $2.2 million, includes a state of the art
rubberized 400 m track and Federation International Football Association - FIFA level one certified artificial turf field.

Thunder Bay Catholic School Board Chairman Bob Hupka led the ceremony which included throwing the first football pass to the Saint Patrick High School Saints Football team. Students,  staff and the community were invited to the official opening ceremony to experience the inaugural Saints versus Falcons game.

“St. Patrick's high school now has a world class facility for the benefits of students staff and the community,” said Hupka. “ The Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board is committed to providing
the best possible education curriculum including academic, cultural, spiritual and physical learning opportunities. These new facilities will be a major venue for diverse recreational programs that will
support student success.”

Funding for the new track and field facilities was allocated from capital funds from the Ontario Ministry of Education as well as from a School Condition Improvement Grant.

Says Stephen Koster Principal of Saint Patrick High School  “  These track and field facilities will be important assets for students and will help us to encourage active and healthy lifestyles.  I am excited
to see all students enjoying the facilities either as players or spectators. Many people have helped to make this project a reality. On behalf of our entire school I extend our sincere thanks for your hard
work and commitment. Go Saints.”
