The final main stage play of the Magnus season, Old Love, was a funny and touching play about the awkward and often humourous situations associated with later-in-life romantic relationships.

Old Love is a clever, witty comedy written for secret romantics of all ages who believe it is never too late to fall in love. This comedic love story spans almost three decades, and a half a dozen meetings between Bud and Molly. Playwright Norm Foster, one of Canada’s top
comedy playwrights, wrote old Love.

Actors Jo-Ann Waytowich and Vince Metcalfe are very familiar with Magnus productions and put on a very real and relaxed performance together which made you in the audience feel a part of their situation. In my many years of attending Magnus, starting at the east end facility, I believe Jo-Ann and Vince are perhaps the best performers in Magnus history. Their very natural interactions together make for an enjoyable evening.

The new Magnus theatre facility provides a very intimate view from all seats and is one the people of Northwestern Ontario should all be proud to have in our area. The stage offers the set designers the opportunity to project the play to the audience very well.

What I liked the best about Old Love was the persistence Bud showed in pursuing Molly, the women of his dreams. You really have to go after what you desire, especially in matters of the heart!
